CMA 43rd General Committee Inauguration Ceremony
Four Strategic Directions to Lead Hong Kong’s Industry to New Heights

The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) held its 43rd General Committee Inauguration Ceremony today (1 February) at Convention Hall, the Hong Kong Convention Exhibition Centre. The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Dr Wang Songmiao, Secretary General of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr Li Yongsheng, Acting Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR; Mr Zhang Xin, Vice-Governor of Guangdong Province; Mr Andrew Leung Kwan Yuen, President of the Legislative Council; and Mrs Regina Ip, Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council. Nearly 1,000 guests witnessed the handover ceremony of the CMA’s 42nd and 43rd Presidents and the presentation of Certificates of Appointments by the Guests-of-honour, marking a new milestone for the association.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Lo Kam Wing, President of CMA, expressed his honour and profound sense of responsibility in assuming the presidency at this significant moment, as the association celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. He conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to all of the past presidents for their enormous contributions to CMA. With the network, expertise and experience accumulated by CMA for nearly a century, Dr Lo is dedicated to enhancing the services and leading the industry to embracing the country’s new development paradigm. CMA aspires to provide strong backing for the industry and become an important partner of the government in policymaking.

Dr Lo further emphasised that CMA, as a major stakeholder in Hong Kong’s industry, will actively promote the upgrading and transformation of the industry along four strategic directions, namely the development of high value-added industry, digitalisation and smartification, green development and branding. He stated, “As the global competition in innovation and technology (I&T) is intensifying, the Hong Kong government has demonstrated tremendous determination to achieve ‘New industrialisation’. CMA will invest more resources to enhance facilities and services for ‘technology commercialisation’ and ‘pilot manufacturing’, thereby maximising the potential of Hong Kong’s I&T and industry to create strong impetus for growth.”

In addition, CMA will provide greater support in green transformation and corporate financing, assisting the industry in seizing opportunities amidst the changing landscape.

There are numerous challenges on the road to economic recovery, particularly concerning the uncertain global demand. To strengthen Hong Kong’s competitive advantages, CMA has been actively promoting economic development both internally and externally. Internally, CMA will continue to inject new elements into its exhibitions and activities to boost local consumption. Externally, the association will keep up its efforts to facilitate business networking and attract investments, enabling local and Mainland enterprises to expand their global presence and expedite the growth of emerging industries in the city.

CMA 43rd General Committee comprised 114 members, including President Dr Lo Kam Wing, Executive Vice President Dr Ma Kai Yum, and Vice Presidents Mr Simon Wong Ka Wo, Mr Dennis Ng Kwok On, Mr Jackson Leung Siu Yin, Mr Calvin Chan Ka Wai, Mr Robert Lok Pak Keung, Mr Ivan Sze, Mr Albert Chuang Ka Pun and Dr Ellis Wong Wai Hung. The term of office of the 43rd CMA General Committee is three years, from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026.
