Support Businesses to Capitalise on the National Development Opportunities

Organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), the “2019 Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, Macau (the Expo)” officially kicks off today (19 April) at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre. A launching ceremony was held this morning to mark the beginning of this popular shopping festival.

To set the scene, the ceremony was performed by a number of important guests, including the HKSAR Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr Edward Yau, Acting President of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Ms Irene Va Kuan Lau, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office Ms Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director of Economic Bureau, Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region Ms Chan Tze Wai, Promotion Ambassador of 2019 Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, Macau, Ms Nancy Sit Ka-yin, as well as a list of senior representatives of supporting organisations from Hong Kong and Macau. They, together with CMA office-bearers such as CMA President Dr Dennis Ng and CMA Exhibition Services Limited Chairman Mr Marvin Hsu, jointly unveiled the 4-day event.

In CMA President Dr Dennis Ng’s speech, he mentioned that the completion of China’s major infrastructure projects, in particular the opening of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), together with the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) not only further strengthen the connection between Hong Kong and Macau with mainland cities, but also bring unprecedented economic opportunities to businesses. “Being one of the most representative industry and commerce associations in Hong Kong, CMA will do its utmost to foster integration of Hong Kong and Macau into the development of the country and  to help businesses explore and grasp the enormous opportunities brought by the GBA. We also want to make “HKBPE”  a household name in the GBA that could effectively promote trade in the arena,” he said.

Comprising over 260 booths, the world-renowned expo has hosted four thematic zones including Fashion & Beauty Products Zone, Leisure Food Zone, Living & Household Products Zone and Health Preserving Food Zone. To attract shoppers, exhibitors will roll out a series of special hot deals, including “up to 90% discount items” and “MOP $1 Product”, offering visitors a wonderful and memorable shopping experience.

Apart from ranges of exciting offer and discount, CMA will also organise a wide variety of programmes for the enjoyment of visitors. To highlight, the singing and dancing performance of Ms Nancy Sit Ka-yin was definitely a blast, stirring up an upbeat and joyful atmosphere for the expo. What’s more, winners of Miss Exhibition Pageant and Children Ambassadors of the 53rd Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo also showed off their talents in an energetic performance. By taking part in “Shopping with Fun” Lucky Draw and Grand Lucky Draw, visitors will be granted a chance to win fabulous prizes including home and kitchen appliances, and a top prize worth over MOP $10,000. Locals and visitors will surely experience a lot of holiday fun at the Expo.  Meanwhile, the expo has always been a perfect place for family gathering. This year, CMA will organise ‘Parent-Child Fun Game Competition’, which offers great opportunity for family bonding.

To provide convenience to visitors, CMA offers free shuttle buses running between the venue and 6 pick-up points. With the opening of HZMB, an additional shuttle bus route travelling from its border inspection building to the expo is arranged.

The Expo is open from 11am to 9pm, except from 11am to 7pm on the last day (22 April).  Admission to the expo is free. Free parking spaces are also available. For details, please visit the website: www.hkbpe.com.hk.
