The 57th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo Opens
Showcasing Over 900 Booths to Captivate Visitors
The highly anticipated 57th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE) officially opened its doors today (16 December), marking the beginning of a remarkable 24-day event. Presented by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), this expansive outdoor exposition, which runs until 8 January 2024, guarantees an experience filled with shopping joy and boundless excitement.
The expo commenced with a magnificent opening ceremony graced by distinguished guests, including Mr John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Mr Yin Zonghua, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr Li Yongsheng, Acting Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR; Mr Chan Kwok Ki, Chief Secretary for Administration; Mr Tsang Kwok Wai, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs; Dr Ko Wing Man, Member of Executive Council of the HKSAR; Mr Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Ms Louise Ho, Commissioner of Customs and Excise, and the office bearers of CMA, including Dr Allen Shi, President of CMA and Dr Wingco Lo, President-elect of CMA.
President Dr Allen Shi expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s expo, which has returned to its full grandeur, “Featuring an impressive array of over 900 booths, the HKBPE stands unrivaled in terms of its breadth and diversity. It is particularly noteworthy that numerous renowned Hong Kong brands, some of which have rejoined after many years, are participating, further reinforcing the expo’s representation of the local industry and underscores their high expectations for its outcomes. Whether you seek shopping delights, entertainment, or wish to pay tribute to Hong Kong’s exceptional products and manufacturing industry, attending the expo is an absolute must.” Dr Shi firmly believes that the event, alongside other festive activities organised by various organisations during this Christmas, will contribute significantly to Hong Kong’s economy.
The expo encompasses 10 captivating thematic zones, catering to diverse interests and preferences. These include the Hong Kong Brands Square, Food & Beverages Zone, Grocery & Noodles Zone, Ginseng, Dried Seafood & Soup Packs Zone, Beauty & Healthcare Zone, Fashion & Stylish Products Zone, Living & Household Zone, Yummy Food Zone, Social Enterprises Zone, and the Promotion Zone. Throughout the expo period, visitors can take advantage of three waves of promotional offers, with discounts of up to 90% off. Moreover, the expo features a wide selection of products available for HK$1 only, with many of these highly sought-after items selling out within the first few minutes of the expo’s opening.
Food takes center stage at the HKBPE’s Yummy Food Zone, where various food stalls offer an abundance of taste bud-tingling cuisines. Adding a touch of novelty, this year’s expo introduces an exquisite selection of alcoholic products, including red wine, white wine, craft beer, Japanese whisky, and cocktails. These delightful offerings provide a unique and elevated experience for visitors, expanding the culinary horizon of the event.
The comprehensive entertainment schedule serves as another highlight of this exposition. In addition to the Miss Exhibition Pageant, the organiser has invited the renowned Muqam Art Troupe of Xinjiang Art Theater to showcase the rich and unique cultural heritage of Xinjiang. Attendees will be captivated by a diverse range of performances, including Chinese opera, live radio shows, kung fu demonstrations, orchestral performances, singing and dancing acts, Christmas-themed activities, and interactive game booths. To further heighten the excitement, attendees have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes, with a total value of HK$4 million for grabs.
Thanks to the government’s rental concession measures, CMA has reduced exhibitors’ participation fees and admission ticket prices, making the expo even more accessible to the public. The regular admission fee has been set at HK$8. In support of the Hong Kong government’s initiative to boost the night economy, the expo’s opening hours will be extended until 10 pm during the Christmas holiday period (from 23 to 31 December), and until 9 pm on other days (except for the last day, which will close at 8 pm). Furthermore, free admission will be offered to all visitors from 7 pm onwards.
