CMA Welcomes William Chui as New Chief Executive Officer
The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) today (9 August) announced the appointment of Mr William Chui as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 12 August 2024.
Mr Chui has extensive experience in international trade and business development. During his over three-decade tenure at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), he held key management positions across various domains, including industrial liaison, international and Mainland relations, image building for Hong Kong, and product and service promotion. His global expertise is highlighted by his roles as Director of New York and Dubai Offices, and most recently as the Regional Director for Europe, Central Asia and Israel, based in Frankfurt, the largest office of the HKTDC’s global network. In this capacity, Mr Chui oversaw thirteen offices and was responsible for promoting Hong Kong’s external trade and business partnerships with nearly 60 countries in the region. His diverse professional background also includes experience in both the Hong Kong Government and a listed conglomerate.
Mr Chui holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science (Hons) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Higher Diploma in Marketing from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Dr Wingco Lo, President of CMA, welcomed the appointment of Mr Chui as the new head of the CMA secretariat. He stated, “William’s profound experience and strong connections across public, private and semi-government sectors, coupled with his vast expertise in administrative management, trade promotion and market expansion, make him an ideal leader for CMA. I am confident that under his leadership, the CMA secretariat will deliver more targeted and timely services and support to our members, assisting them in integrating into national development initiatives and navigating the ever-changing business landscape.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Chui said, “I’m deeply honoured to join CMA at the significant milestone of its 90th anniversary. As one of Hong Kong’s major chambers of commerce, CMA bears the important mission of promoting industrial and trade development and leading the industry towards new industrialisation. I look forward to working with the entire CMA team to assist our members in overcoming challenges and embracing new opportunities.”
