The CMA Announces Ms Ida Ng as Chief Executive Officer
The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (the CMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Ida Ng as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2025.
Ms Ng brings nearly 30 years of distinguished service in the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, where she held key enforcement and managerial roles across diverse areas, including revenue protection, anti-narcotics operations, intellectual property rights protection, import/export control and anti-smuggling enforcement. She was also seconded to the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and the Security Bureau, where she contributed to the research and formulation of government policies. In 2019, Ms Ng was appointed Acting Assistant Commissioner, overseeing the Intelligence and Investigation Branch, and was formally confirmed in the position in 2020. She subsequently led the Boundary and Ports Branch, where she managed customs operations and clearance policies across all control points, and spearheaded various trade facilitation initiatives until 2024.
Ms Ng holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences and a Master of International and Public Affairs from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London. She has also completed the Senior Executive Fellows Programme at Harvard University and is a Certified Fraud Examiner.
CMA President Dr Wingco Lo warmly welcomed Ms Ng’s appointment, “Ms Ng brings an extraordinary combination of cross-disciplinary expertise, strategic vision, and leadership excellence. Her extensive experience in trade policy and cross-boundary collaboration will provide fresh perspectives and drive innovation in the CMA’s development. I am confident that under her leadership, the Secretariat will be better equipped to support our members in navigating the increasingly complex and fast-evolving global trade environment. Ms Ng’s appointment will also enhance the CMA’s role as both an enabler and a vital connector, helping Hong Kong and Mainland enterprises to grow stronger and expand further.”
On her new role, Ms Ng said, “It is a privilege to join the CMA and collaborate with such a dedicated team. In today’s landscape of escalating geopolitical tensions and rising trade protectionism, businesses face mounting uncertainty. As one of Hong Kong’s most influential chambers of commerce, the CMA must continue to strengthen its agility and foresight to help the industry tackle challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities. I look forward to leveraging my experience to advance policy advocacy, optimise member services, and expand the CMA’s international outreach—empowering businesses to thrive through transformation and contribute to the high-quality development of both Hong Kong and the nation.”
