Brand Promotion

Steering our industries towards brand-building and transforming Hong Kong into a hub for brands, the Hong Kong Brand Development Council (BDC), initiated by the Chinese Manufacturers Association of Hong Kong (CMA), is a non-profit institution dedicated to promoting the development of Hong Kong brands by uniting efforts from all sectors. The BDC is committed to advocating for Hong Kong brands and products, fostering innovation and creativity, creating an environment conducive to brand-building, and enhancing collaboration among companies in brand development.

The BDC operates on the principle that the market leads, the government facilitates, and the community supports. In addition to inviting government officials as Honorary Patrons and Honorary Advisors, the BDC boasts a prestigious membership that includes representatives from various sectors such as manufacturing, commerce, academia, and professional services. A dedicated secretariat and several working committees—including the Hong Kong Top Brand Assessment Board, Promotion and Advocacy Committee, Technical Advisory Committee, Made in Hong Kong Mark Scheme Steering Committee, Finance Committee, International Affairs Committee, and Strategic Development Committee—have been established as operational arms to execute the BDC's initiatives.

The BDC aims to serve as a flagship leader in Hong Kong's brand development, acting as a driver for strategic pursuits, a facilitator for policy formulation and implementation, and a coordinator for the branding efforts of local organisations. It has actively engaged in various key areas, strengthening its leadership in brand accreditation, incubation, promotion, research, exchanges, and international cooperation.

In addition to hosting prestigious events like the Hong Kong Distinguished Brand Leader Award, Hong Kong Top Brand Awards, Hong Kong Top Service Brand Awards, Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards and Hong Kong Emerging Service Brand Awards, the BDC supports other brand competitions to identify role models and set best-practice benchmarks in branding. It organises the Hong Kong Top Brand Mark Scheme and Made in Hong Kong Mark Scheme, both pioneering initiatives that have established a framework for brand-related certification through structured assessment and licensing. To enhance Hong Kong brands' visibility, the BDC actively participates in various exhibitions, product showcases, and promotional events both locally and internationally. The BDC also regularly organises the SME Branding Club, alongside numerous training, research, study, and exchange programmes, as well as public education campaigns aimed at increasing brand awareness among local enterprises and the general public.

With the advent of the brand era, brand-building has become an essential strategy for organisations to remain competitive. Collaborating closely with our industries, the BDC is devoted to promoting "Made by Hong Kong, Originated from Hong Kong" as a world-class label and establishing Hong Kong as a vibrant brands hub.
