Hong Kong ESG Awards
Green development is an indispensable component of the advancement of new quality productive forces in Hong Kong. To encourage Hong Kong enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to continuously enhance their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and to generate green productivity, the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (the CMA) hosted the 2024 Hong Kong ESG Awards cum ESG Pledge Presentation Ceremony on 7 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The event was graced by the presence of guest-of-honour Mr Michael Wong Wai Lun, Deputy Financial Secretary, as well as award presenters Dr Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, and Mr Wong Chuen Fai, Commissioner for Climate Change of the Environment and Ecology Bureau. Representatives from 16 winning companies were presented with their well-deserved awards, while certificates were awarded to companies participating in the ESG Pledge this year.
As a staunch advocate of sustainable development, the CMA has introduced the ESG Pledge, the Hong Kong ESG Awards and a range of green services to assist industry players in embracing ESG practices to enhance their competitiveness. By the end of this year, the CMA will further step up its efforts by introducing a green platform, encouraging various sectors of society to utilise carbon credits for carbon offsetting, with the goal of propelling Hong Kong towards becoming a globally leading sustainable development city.
The Hong Kong ESG Awards is organised by the CMA, with the Hong Kong Brand Development Council as the co-organiser and HSBC and the CMA Industrial Development Foundation as sponsors. The event also enjoys the support of strategic partner CMA Testing, and supporting organisations, including Hong Kong Productivity Council, Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, and UNESCO Hong Kong Association. The Hong Kong ESG Awards comprises three major award categories: the ESG Grand Award, the ESG Award, and the Special Award for SME. The judging panels evaluate the overall performance of participating companies in various aspects of ESG and assess the performance of their relevant projects to determine the winners of each award.
In the 2024 edition of the Hong Kong ESG Awards, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals was honoured with the highest accolade, the ESG Grand Award. The ESG Award was awarded to ten companies, including Asia Allied Infrastructure Holdings Limited, Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East, Fountain Set (Holdings) Limited, Kee Wah Bakery Limited, Kiu Fung Hong Limited, LAWSGROUP, Seven Sea Chemicals (Holdings) Ltd., Well Born Real Estate Management Limited, Winson Holdings Hong Kong Limited, and Yau Lee Holdings Ltd.. The winners of the Special Award for SME category included Arredamenti Company Limited, Dayton Industrial Co., Ltd., EnerRight Intelligent Limited, Golden Fine Research Ltd., and T & S Buttons Company Limited.
