The Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE) began today with a bang! Running until 7 January 2019 at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, this dazzling event is by far the biggest, the longest, the most famous and the oldest outdoor exposition of local products, food and entertainment ever staged in Hong Kong.  In honor of its 80th anniversary, The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) will roll out tons of amazing offers to share joy with all Hong Kong citizens.

Performing the expo’s launch ceremony today were a number of important guests, including Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Mr Xie Feng, The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC in the HKSAR; Mr Yang Jian Ping Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr Nicholas Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the HKSAR; Mr John Lee, Secretary for Security of the HKSAR; Mr Edward Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR; Mrs Cherry Tse, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs of the HKSAR etc.  They, together with CMA office-bearers such as CMA President Dr Dennis Ng and CMA 2nd Vice President cum CMA Exhibition Services Limited Chairman Mr Marvin Hsu, and 53rd HKBPE ambassador Ms Nancy Sit, jointly unveiled the 24-day mega event.

“HKBPE is a visible spark to the Hong Kong’s economy over the past 8 decades. This is a major milestone in Hong Kong’s history and an exciting day for all of us at CMA,” said CMA President Dr Dennis Ng. “Attracting several millions of visitors every year and drawing extensive publicity and awareness, we take tremendous pride in having different generations of fans. Stepping into the 80th year of staging, I believe that the expo’s tradition of excellence and continuous improvement is stronger than ever.”

If Black Friday and Double 11 are the world’s biggest shopping days of the year, then HKBPE is local’s most significant shopping season. Having 880 stalls, there will be a large selection of brands and products. Deep discounts are always element of HKBPE catching people’s attention. To show how much we appreciate Hong Kong people for their support, CMA joined hands with exhibitors to launch special offers that are related to “8”, such as “$80 lucky bags” of air-conditioners (retail value: $5,480), water machine (retail value: $2,988), dried seafood (retail value: $2,680).  All “$80 lucky bags”, as expected, quickly flied off the shelves on the first day.  However, HKBPE will not disappoint visitors. Ranges of free gifts are offered for the first 800 visitors to take home every day. Also, many exhibitors have promised to keep their price drops or offer discounts up to 90% off and “$1 products” during the entire expo. There are also lucky draws and games with a total prize value of $5.8 million.

When e-commerce is getting popular, many shoppers have jumped online for the good deals. To accommodate the need of online consumers and working group, CMA partners with HKTVmall to launch a series of online promotions. People can have opportunities to get discounted products up to 90% off from HKTVmall and then collect them at the expo.
A “80 Glorious Years, Amazing Expo” Pavilion, that will showcase the rich heritage of HKBPE and Hong Kong’s manufacturing industry through product display and the illustrations created by the renowned local illustrator Prudence Mak (Chocolate Rain), is set up in this year’s expo. Visitors of the Pavilion may also have fun with photo-taking gadget and robot demonstration during the weekends.

Senior citizens were the important engine of the society and we value their contributions. To share the birthday joy with them, CMA will invite 80 elderly citizens aged 80 years to the expo to celebrate this special occasion with us.

CMA has also arranged an exciting lineup of special programmes and activities for visitors to explore. These include the signature event Miss Exhibition Pageant, Chinese opera, live radio programmes, dance and singing performance, showing a balance of traditional and modern elements.

The expo will be open from 11am to 10pm daily, except from 11am to 8pm on the last day.
